Asa Walker is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He began the study of Music at age 8 under Ms. Mary Francis Early in the Atlanta Public School system.

He received his post secondary education at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia where he majored in Music Education. While a student in college Asa was active in the marching, concert, and jazz band programs serving as student conductor of the jazz band (Purple Image) his senior year. He later worked on the staff of Mr. Cleopas R. Johnson (deceased) director of bands at Morris Brown College, at which time he composed his first composition; Royal Fanfare for marching band.

As a composer Asa has composed 18 original works, four which have been performed publicly: A Song for Janese performed by the Atlanta Concert Band in October 2003, and the Clark Atlanta Symphonic Band April 2007. Sunflower ( Dee – Dee) performed by the Georgia College & State University Band in April 2004, Reflection performed by the West Side Winds at their August 2005 concert, and Revelation ( Four Songs) which Asa Conducted The Clark- Atlanta Symphonic Band in performance April of 2007.

Asa has performed with several community and professional groups in the Atlanta area including The African American Philharmonic Orchestra, Agnes Scott Wind Ensemble, the Metropolitan Atlanta Community Band, The Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra, and was the principle euphonium and one of two assistant conductors with the Atlanta Concert Band 2004 to 2006 He continues to serve on the Board of Trustees of that organization as vice –chairman. Asa is also a member of the Society of Composers and the Federation of Musicians.

Asa founded ,and is president of Asa Music Production, Inc. a non-profit 501c3 corporation that provides a forum for unpublished composers in the Atlanta area to have their compositions performed as well as sponsoring the West Side Winds Adult Wind Ensemble of which Asa is the conductor.
